MEET OUR NURSES
I started working for the team, originally at the Brunswick Street site, as a clinical trials coordinator in 2000. Since that time I have been working with LGBTIQ patients, including HIV positive persons. I have been privileged to witness many positive changes in treatments and community attitudes to HIV.
My role includes clinical trial research & am actively involved in Kirby Institute studies. I was part of the original trial of PrEP which then progressed to the current QPrEP'd study. GRMC is the largest recruiter of subjects in Queensland.
A large part of the service offered by GRMC is comprehensive health care & as a practice nurse I have been involved in facilitating management plans & team care arrangements for patients with chronic medical conditions.
I have a strong belief in continuous professional education and as such have on many occasions attended local, national & international conferences. I have also presented my work to various health organisations & have had a number of papers published in the field of HIV research.
As mentioned before, l am proud to be a member of a team who pride themselves on working with the individual rather than just a medical label.
I was welcomed to the Gladstone Road Medical Centre late 2017 and am here 3 days a week.
I am an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse with a background in Aged Care and am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing at QUT. I have special interest in sexual health, LGBTQI+ health, HIV, Transgender health and wound care. I am also the Secretary for Queensland Positive People (QPP).
I aim to provide patient comfort by establishing rapport to ensure you have a friendly and
personable experience. My primary role is to assess patients prior to seeing the doctor ensuring you are seen to in a timely manner, providing a streamlined approach and attending to your health care needs promptly.
I strive to remove barriers and stigma surrounding the LGBTQI+ and the HIV positive community to allow for open and honest communication between health providers and patients – with the goal of reaching better outcomes for patients and the greater community.
I look forward to getting to know you and being a part of your healthcare team.
